The north

During our time in Scotland we managed to see quite a bit of the country. We went on several day trips, a couple of trip to Glasgow where visited my family and we also had some overnight trips in the highlands. Niels and I went on two of these trips together and Niels went on a third with his John and Theresa.

The first two photos are of randon stops on our drive west on the first trip.

This is the west coast town of Oban where we spent the night.

The next day we drove up the coast a bit, explored a ruined castle, drove around the loch pictured below.

Then back south east through the famous Glen Coe (below).

On our way back to Edinburgh we came across the castle where they filmed most of Monty Python's Holy Grail - Niels got quite excited when they offered him coconuts...

View from the Monty Python castle.

The next three photos are of Niels' trip to Skye with his parents - beautiful scenery and close encounters with what has to be one of the most beautiful animals on earth.

On our final trip into the highlands we spent three days driving west to Ullapool, then up the coast to the very north of Scotland, then back to the east coast and through the Cairngorms and on to Edinburgh. The first two pictured were taken at Ullapool.

The following three photos were taken on the drive north from Ullapool.

The final two photos are of the beautiful wild beaches on the north coast of Scotland.
